It was great to meet up with these three giants of the North East TV and Film Industry.Actor Mark Benton is back in his home town of Middlesbrough filming a comedy series, Film Festival Founder Michael Luke is gearing up for another Tees Valley International Film Festival in November and hot off the back of a documentary for Amazon Prime, Director Paul Suggitt is developing a drama based on Teesside using North East actors and crew. The chat around the table was one full of positivity and possibilities.

Now this was a brilliant day. A huge thanks for inviting students from our training course Making Creativity Works. It gave a real insight into many areas of production. It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet new at the North East Screen and Focus Canning Summer Social last night at the Fire Station in Sunderland. I really enjoyed catching up with everyone including LinkedIn friends to finally meet in person and see the fantastic students on my training course Making Creativity Works and Ant and Dec’s Making it in the Media. I’m immensely proud of them and can wait to see what they achieve in thier careers.

It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the young people taking part in the Ant and Dec's Making it in the Media training programme to ITV and ITV Signpost Productions. We have been working closely with the The Prince's Trust and Gateshead College for a long time now and it's great to give people the opportunity to take their first steps into the screen industry in the North East. It was fantastic to be invited along to the Gateshead College Bridging the Gap networking event at the Sports Academy based at Gateshead Stadium. Students got the chance to meet over 100 industry professionals to ask for advice and guidance on their chosen career. Lots of pathways and opportunities were created today. Well done to all the team at Gateshead College and Deni Chambers Natalie Zacharia for putting on such a brilliant event.

A huge thank you to Francesca Sardone Fahima Chowdhury Alison Loose and the rest of the production crew at Vera for allowing our students from our Making Creativity Works training programme onto the set to watch filming take place. Opportunities like this don’t come along too often and we truly cherished every moment. It was fantastic to see such a slick operation in progress and give an insight into all the roles involved in such a huge and successful production. And that's a wrap for Cohort 3 on the Making Creativity Works training programme. As always, its been an absolute honour to head up the delivery of the advanced modules of MCW which encourages people who are deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent to consider a career in the tv, film and video production industry. Over the past few months students have taken part in a variety of introductory and advanced screen skills sessions including camera, edit and presentation skills.For their final lesson, students took part in employability skills day delivered by Conor and Trixie from ITV Recruitment who showed the learners how to write the perfect cv and hone their interview skills.
