Eastern Illinois University can be a great school to be far from family but not too far away. Housing can depend on the dorm hall you are in, but anyone is raised different. There is someone who will clean the bathroom and vacuum the halls. For safety there is police and these polls through the campus that if pushed, it will alert the police department, turn on campus alarms, and all students will receive an email. Food is quite poor as there is only 2 dining halls south and Steveston. South juts recycle meals over and over on different days only on special occasions like holidays or finals they will make something new. Steveson is a little better breakfast is served till late evening and they have better options, but meals are recycled. There are campus stores which are pretty great, now way too expensive and they have quite foods like hot pockets and pizza rolls. There is another dining hall that is fast food chick fila, quboda and many more.

After transferring to Eastern from a community college, I was nervous about the transition. However, my experience at Eastern has been nothing but amazing! The professors in the Department of Public Health have been so accommodating, supportive, and kind!
The campus is beautiful, safe, and has so many wonderful opportunities for connecting with other students. There are events nearly everyday, a variety of clubs, and ways to connect beyond the classroom. The campus is diverse, with students of a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. I will always cherish my time at EIU, the friends I've made, and the professors I have met.

EIU was a perfect place for a 18 year old just leaving home for the first time. The campus was small enough that I felt comfortable, yet large enough that I didn’t know everyone on campus. The class size were small enough that I felt like I could really get to know my fellow students and staff. The campus was beautiful and very active. There was always something to do on campus.
